Project Description
QSS is a permanent automatic fire extinguishing system that consists of flame detectors, extinguishing nozzles and control unit. Effective operation of the system is ensured by very quick detection and extinguishing in the early phase of fire.
The system has been designed in a manner that ensures quick detection and extinguishing of a fire in very early phase, before it can cause losses or spread and become difficult to extinguish. Flame detectors with a very quick response time are used for detection. Water mist nozzles are used for extinguishing, which effectively suppress the fire, cutting off the inflow of oxygen to the fire.
In its assumptions, QSS is similar to the spark detection and extinguishing system, which combines detection, extinguishing and control. However, it differs in one area – the spark detection and extinguishing system has been designed to detect and extinguish the sources of ignition in production processes before they are able to initiate a fire or explosion, while the QSS system has been designed to quickly detect and extinguish fires at a very early phase.
Firefly’s QSS is based on the operation of ultra-quick flame detectors and water mist nozzles manufactured by Firefly. Our portfolio includes several types of flame detectors with different operation characteristics, which are selected individually for each project, in order to ensure the highest level of safety.
The Firefly water mist extinguishing system has an amazing ability to suppress flames, while using a very small amount of water. Exceptional design of the hydraulic system and structure of water mist nozzles allow for a quick response of the system.
The protocol of QSS examination is called “DFL TM170307-1261- Quick Suppression Systems for certain high-risk areas typically found in industry applications“. It was developed by DFL (Danish Fire Laboratory) – certified research facility, which is accredited in the scope of performance of full fire protection tests.
