Project Description
Every year fires occur in many shredders around the world. Fires that occur in the shredders cause production downtime and income losses. Regardless of whether waste, paper or other materials are destroyed, such fires may occur as a result of: friction, damage to bearings, rolls or due to foreign objects (stones, pieces of metal, etc.). Fire in the shredder may spread very quickly. Therefore, it’s necessary to provide a quick-acting fire protection system, which will be able to handle difficult conditions in the shredder, as well as around it.
So far, no product has been able to match the quality and reliability of Firefly products and solutions. Firefly ShredderGuard™ is a system that effectively prevents fires occurring in shredding lines in the recycling industry. The Firefly Shredder-Guard™ solution focuses on detecting and extinguishing a fire as quickly as possible. Therefore, the Firefly systems always consist of three main integrated components: effective detection, quick extinguishing and control. By using various techniques in its systems, Firefly provides the highest level of safety in the shredding line:
1. Firefly flame detectors
Quick-acting flame detectors, which are extremely resistant to external interference and designed in a manner allowing them to handle difficult conditions of industrial environment.
2. Patented True IR detectors
These detectors are insensitive to daylight. They detect flames, sparks, embers and hot particles with a temperature and energy sufficient to initiate ignition.
3. Extinguishing with water nozzles
Effective extinguishing with the help of exceptionally designed and appropriately distributed nozzles, which ensure precise penetration and coverage of the entire endangered area with the stream of water. Activation of the extinguishing takes place within milliseconds from the moment of threat detection.
4. Extinguishing with water mist
Installed over the conveyor, the water mist nozzles constitute an additional element that increases the level of safety.
